New Years Resolutions

new-year

I’m not a person to make resolutions because I feel like they can be easily broken. I am more of a person that just changes my lifestyle to fit my needs for that time.

This year, I have decided that I would actually write out resolutions and share with you guys…also so you can hold me accountable. I’ll break it up into sections and than add the resolutions under each.

LIFE/HEALTH

  1. I will eat healthier.
  2. I will get into the best shape of my life.
  3. I will be happy.
  4. I will help more people.
  5. I will be a better person, just in general.

WORK

  1. I will continue working on my blog and create engaging content.
  2. I will reach 10,000+ blog followers for 2017.
  3. I will become very successful in my career.
  4. I will love my work.
  5. I will help people through my job.
  6. I will finish writing my book.

That’s all I have folks! I know I should have been doing this all along but I’m sticking to these!!!!

Let me know your resolutions and also if I need to add any to mine!

THANKS!

Boundaries

boundary

Sorry, it’s been a while! 🙂

Let’s get to it!

Everyone has boundaries. Whether they are social, personal or relationship boundaries…you have them.

As for me, I have a lot boundaries. It could be my crippling anxiety or my comedic distrust in people, but it’s quite evident when you have crossed my boundaries.

Over Christmas break, I was unable to go home for the holidays! 😦

But I got invited to a girlfriend’s house, whom I spent Thanksgiving with. It’s always drinking and laughs, so I did not mind.

So my friend has a very fun and very sweet, younger  sister, whom I have totally clicked with. We text all the time and she’s just awesome.

Well, her fiance was there for Christmas. There is only one word to describe him and that’s ‘blah.’  He just not someone I would expect her to date. To each his own.

Anyway….they have been together for 2 years and will be married in 3 months. I don’t know if they are still going through a phase or what but he can’t keep his hands off her. It’s pretty uncomfortable. I get it when people are in love and they just like touching each other and what not. I get it.

I’m no prude but when you are at a family gathering, as this one was, you’d think people would be a little more conservative.  I’m not saying they should sit 10 feet away from each other but damn! They were constantly kissing and sitting in each others lap and she had a tiny skirt on. I mean, her 95 year old grandmother was there. I was literally so uncomfortable with it. It’s like they have taken each others independence.

In a relationship, I need my own space. Her mother, who is a lovely woman, keeps her mouth shut about pretty much everything said to them, “do you guys just ever stop touching each other?” Even if this woman knows whats up.

Anyway…he literally has to touch her at all times. Have you ever met an annoying couple like that?

Am I making this into something bigger than it is?

This is Why You Should Read Labels…

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Seriously, who reads labels these days?

“Oh cool, lipstick…looks cute!”

“Moisturizer, sweet! Glide that shit on.”

You always think it’s self explanatory, until it’s not.

The past few weeks, I have been trying to decide on a new foundation. So I have been back and forth from Sephora and Ulta checking everything out. Pretty much everything was way too oily for my skin. I’m thinking to myself, wft?! I then try matte oil control…still greasy. I have the skin of a jellyfish. Gross.

Anyway…the other night, I take my shower, wash my face and then apply my moisturizer (which is fairly new, was using it for 2 weeks). Well, my face starts to burn. I’m like seriously, this is hypoallergenic?!? Mind you, that I have been getting red and it has been burning for about 2 weeks but not as bad as the last time.

So I’m burning and I look at my face an hour later and I’m red. I have a legit burn on my face. I grab the bottle and start reading.

ulta

Well….it says “Moisturizer…..Mask.”  I’m thinking why would it say mask, it clearly says moisturizer. Then I flip to the directions and it says ‘Apply mask and leave on for 3 minutes, 1o minutes, maximum, if you are feeling really dry. Wash with warm water and pat dry with towel.’ Well fuck.

No wonder my skin has been so oily. I have been keeping a constant moisture mask on my face.

Don’t be dumb like me and end up with burn marks all over. Read labels people. I’m just happy it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Always,

T

Clean Hair, Don’t Care

Let’s talk hair products.

I’m very, very picky about what I put on my hair. Once, when I was in high school, I took a box of dye to my mane and my hair over-processed. My hair was literally snapping off. I was crying and vigorously washing the devil’s potion out. I went to my aunt, who is a hair stylist and she cut all the bad parts out and also put some hair restorative conditioner to help with what hair I had left. Now, I would share a picture of this but for obvious reasons, I have burned all the remaining evidence of this horrible time in my life. So I found this sweet picture that is very close to what was happening on my head.

picture

So picture this but a little more choppy.  Oh and add braces AND glasses. Yeaaaa.

I was cute. So since that traumatic experience, I cannot stress that I’m very careful who cuts/colors and what products go on my head.

So with that, I kept seeing advertisements for Shea Moisture as well as a the product itself on the shelves at stores. I kept thinking, well that looks interesting…let me do some research. After doing my research, it fit my criteria…so sulfate free and color safe. It also has raw and a lot of certified organic products. Winning. I found where you can get FREE LARGE samples here plus a $2 off coupon! It also looks like they are restocking some so keep checking in for your free samples. Double Winning.

So I got my sample 2 days ago and have been using it daily (which I tend to wash my hair daily anyways because I can’t control all this madness and super thickness).

Can I just say, it’s totally going on my top 5 product list…I’m not even kidding. This stuff is good.

It’s the Shea Moisture- Raw Shea Butter

This is what the label says! “Moisturizes and repairs lifeless dry, damaged or over-processed natural hair. Intensive care, healing treatments and styling aids perfect for transitioning chemically treated hair to healthy natural hair.”

Pros

  1. My hair is friggin soft.
  2. Smells like the beach…a good beach.
  3. The smell stays all day.
  4. My hair is shiner.
  5. It didn’t frizz up after blow drying and straightening.
  6. You really don’t need to use much (Saving!)

Cons

  1. Although it smells amazing…it is very strong (still not totally a strike for me).
  2. I had to really make sure it was washed out. I know with previous sulfate free shampoos, it takes a minute to wash out.

So all in all, I give this stuff an 9/10. I’m totally going to order more samples of the other Shea Moisture line, just to see what the other stuff is like but I WILL be buying this one!

Makeup for the Helpless

I learned a few things about makeup today.

Number 1: I suck at applying makeup. Like I’m freaking awful. Those how to videos also suck because, they don’t have a correction for shaky hands or someone who has no clue what highlighter and/or contouring is….

Number 2: Once I learned how to amateurly use highlighter, that shit looks pretty good. But again, I am a amateur.

Number 3: It will make your face look all dewy and shit. Like you just stepped out of the rain, but you’re not wet and your face is just glowing.

Side Note: I haven’t gone out in public just yet, so I’m not sure how it looks to others and that in itself will be extremely comical!

I don’t really have a point for this post, but I really just wanted to share that I am growing up and makeup game is getting better, slowly, but better!

Look out for pictures!

My Experience at a Photo Shoot

Friday, I had an incredible opportunity to pose for a photo shoot with Adidas Volleyball.  It was quit an experience and definitely one I will never forget!

I have a history with volleyball and that’s a part of the reason that I was asked to pose for the shoot.  I was practicing my poses beforehand but was not prepared for what actually happened!

All of the girls were asked to play games and act out scenarios for pictures.  I haven’t really played in about 5 years so I was very nervous. We had to continuously repeat hits, sets, and spikes, over and over again until the photographer got the perfect angle. And we ended up playing for 4 hours.

The day still wasn’t over at that point, we had a little break then we went back to playing volleyball. After lunch, we had to take studio pictures. So each model had to pose in different outfits.  This wasn’t bad but it’s extremely hard to act ‘natural’ when someone is screaming act natural while taking 100 different pictures.  Not only was I photographed in volleyball gear but also workout clothes. The day totaled 11 hours.

It was such a cool experience but super exhausting! If anyone says models have easy job has never experienced it behind the scenes! I received very sore muscles, bruises in odd places, as well as some cool swag! What an experience!

I’m obsessed…
